Katelyn Clampett is an American country pop singer-songwriter, musician, and recording artist. A graduate from the Berklee College of Music, she began her career in Los Angeles as a backing vocalist for Selena Gomez & the Scene after competing on American Idol.

Clampett later moved to Nashville and made her debut as a solo artist.

Early life and education

Clampett is the daughter of professional golfer Bobby Clampett.[1][2] She grew up in Cary, North Carolina,[3][4] where she was active in community theatre productions.[5] She attended St.

David's School, a private Episcopal preparatory school in Raleigh. She graduated from Berklee College of Music in with a degree in professional music studies.[6] While a student at Berklee, Clampett won the university's songwriting competition and performer showcase competition in [7]

Career

Clampett started out as a songwriter and, in , she wrote the theme song for the television show From Fairways to Airways on the Golf Channel.[8][9] After graduating from college, Clampett moved to Los Angeles.

She worked as a backing vocalist for Selena Gomez & the Scene for two years.[2][10][11] After working for Gomez she performed as a backing vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist for Victoria Justice.[12] Clampett also performed as a backing vocalist for Ariana Grande and Vince Gill and as an opening act for Dan + Shay, Love and Theft, Frankie Ballard, and Gloriana.[12][13] In Clampett competed on the ninth season of American Idol.[2] Clampett did not make it through to the show's semifinals.

  • In she made it to the top twelve finalists on Bravo TV's Platinum Hit.[10] Later that year she headlined at Carmel Music Live with Jamie Davis.[8]

    Clampett released her first two singles, Water Them Down and Sweet Tea in and [14] She released her first extended play, titled Stricly Business, in [15]

    Clampett moved to Nashville in and joined a band which signed with Creative Artists Agency.

    She also signed with the agency independently as an actor in Los Angeles.[2] She is represented by Gellman Management.[2] In Nashville, Clampett performed gigs at the Listening Room Cafe.[16] Later in , Clampett was a songwriter for the Christian contemporary worship album Nothing Is Wasted by Elevation Worship.[17][18] She also co-wrote the worship song Saviour Like A Shepherd Lead Us for WeAreWorship.[19]

    In Clampett opened for Kip Moore.[20] In Clampett released the single The Trouble With The Truth, which she wrote with Barry Dean and Ethan Roberts.[2][10][21] The single was produced by Brad Hill.[12] In she was featured on the track Wildflowers on the Highway by Szlachetka on his album Heart of My Hometown,[22] for which she was a co-writer.[23][24] On November 30, she released the single Home For Christmas.[13]

    Clampett plays guitar, electric bass, banjo, and piano.[2] She has cited Fleetwood Mac, Alison Krauss, Brad Paisley, and the Eagles as musical influences.[2]
